Lot 134		The Nine Symphonies of Gustav Mahler: Conducted by Leonard Bernstein, New York Philharmonic and London Symphony Orchestra. Extremely popular limited edition boxed set of 14 vinyl recordings conducted by the legendary Leonard Bernstein with the New York Philharmonic and London Symphony Orchestra. Also included is one additional record "Gustav Mahler Remembered". This set is #2546. The slip case is in good condition but the paper affixed on verso outlining the details of the set hast stains, scrapes and holes. However removing the 2½" thick folio that hold the vinyl records, one can clearly see the slipcase did its work. The exposed spine that is exposed in the case in scuffed, and some splits to the faux leather along hinges, but once out of case, the front and back boards near pristine, the gold gilt lettering bright and without wear. Thoroughly examining the set, the 30 page brochure is clean and most important, the vinyl records extremely well cared for. A fine pre-owned set. Lot 135		Donizetti, Gaetano; Leading Italian Composer of the Early 19th Century, Handwritten and Signed Letter on Personal Stationery (1797-1848) Prolific Italian composer of acclaimed works including Lucia di Lammermoor, Don Pasquale, Roberto Devereux and L'elisir D'amore as well as his music selected for Abraham Lincoln's funeral march. Embossed monogrammed paper "GD" Donizetti has written in Italian with letter undated and executed in black fountain pen ink. Letter invites recipient for coffee. Lot 136		Puccini, Giacomo; Acclaimed Italian Composer Handwritten Letter Dated 1905 Written on His Residential Letterhead. Amusing Content (1858-1924) Giacomo Antonio Domenico Michele Secondo Maria Puccini is arguably the greatest Italian romantic opera composer behind Verdi. He composed such masterpieces as Tosca, La Bohème, Madame Butterfly, La Fanciulla del West and Turandot. Offered is an autograph letter signed by Puccini in Italian from his residential address in Milan, Italy. Letter is dated Oct. 5, 1907 and executed in black fountain pen ink. In this letter, Puccini responds to a letter of "mischief done to my Manon" (Manon Lescaut). "I wish that these terrible performances will end and that all echoes scatter. Thank you for your regards and friendship to me. Greetings G. Puccini" Letter measures 10 x 6½" and is matted and framed with a photo to 15 x 18" in gilt gold and red wood frame. Lot 137		Sheet Music: "Tschaikowsky's Concerto No.3 For Piano and Orchestra" Published by P. Jurgenson. Beethoven Piano Forte "God Save the King". Three extremely old publications of sheet music for two important compositions. 1.) What clearly has to be early 18th century based on the paper, 5 page sheet music "Variations pour Piano-Forté sur le Thême "God save the King composées par L.Van BEETHOVEN no. 25 A Offenbach chez Jean André." No publication date, loose leafs but complete, 9 pages. Complimenting is a more recent printing of the composition "God save the King Harmonized for Four Voices with an Accompaniment for the Piano Forte, London. two pages possibly removed from a volume. No printer, no date, but printed on premium stock for the day. 2.) From the historic publishing house P. Jurgenson and Mackar & Noel, a 51 page soft bound Concerto No 3. by Peter Tschaikowsky. No publishing date, but possibly determined by style of title page. In remarkable condition, it appears to have never been laid flat; the binding is taught as if new. Lot 138		Verdi, Giuseppe Fortunino Francesco: The Greatest 19th Century Italian Composer of Opera, Rare Signed German Cabinet Card Dated 1880 (1813-1901) Famous Italian Romantic composer, who became one of the most prominent opera composers in history by the time he was in his 30s. La Traviata, Rigoletto, Aida, Otello, Il Trovatore and Don Carlos do not even account for a third of his masterpieces. Verdi has signed Bruckmann's Portrait Collection cabinet card "To Josephine, G. Verdi, Genova (Genoa) 1880" along bottom white border below image. Card measures 7 x 4½", in excellent condition as is the signature, executed in black fountain pen ink.
